I really enjoy spending time with my family.  We are often in the kitchen cooking or eating.  Last weekend we spent the day preparing for the Super Bowl.

My wife and I planned a whole menu right out of the Bon Appetit magazine.  We needed some items for our menu, so my wife, her mom and our kids made a trip to the store.  By the time she returned, there was a Guinness reduction sauce boiled over onto the stove, flour all over the kitchen counter, and a sink full of dishes.

I love to cook, and I think I'm pretty good at it, but I know that I'm better at making a mess in the kitchen!  My lovely wife, Heather, puts up with it because I make excellent roasted chicken, amazing homemade pasta, and a mean brownie with Guinness beer as its star ingredient.  Heather has told me that if the food wasn't so good, she would have kicked me out of the kitchen a long time ago!

  1. I've always wanted to be able to cook really good. I think it's one of those things, if you can cook really good, the ladies love it. But the laides loving a guy that can cook is not my only reason of wanting to be able to cook, There are other reasons that I can not thank of right now. I guess it's just one of those trial and error things. It may taste good it may not.

  3. It sounds like your wife thinks your delicious cooking is an even trade for the dirty dishes. I can't even remember what we had for the big game so it must have been pretty boring. I agree with Jess. If you would like to share recipes, please don't hesitate. :)

  4. I read a lot of cookbooks, magazines, watch the Food Network and then go through a lot of trial and error trying the recipes out. I spent nine months as a stay-at-home dad so I had a lot of time to become good at cooking/baking.

Now for the Brownie recipe. I can't take any credit for the recipe, but I will tell you my daughter says they're "out of this world". I'm enclosing the link and I would love to hear what everyone thinks when they try them. http://www.bonappetit.com/recipes/2012/02/chocolate-stout-brownies

They may take some effort, but they are so worth it. I hope you enjoy.

  5. My children have been cooks in restaurants all over Austin. They've given me a different perspective on food--I'm much more creative with spices now!
